FAR CRY HINTS & SPOILERS
PC version (Vista64)
Do not save games during cut scenes. Objectives
are lost or missions cannot be completed.
Screen Shots:
hit Prnt Scrn, and in your documents/my games/FarCry2
folder there is a folder called Screenshots where they are stored
in .png format.
Buddies:
Wherever you end up after your initial escape from Pala:, "Cock
Fights", "Slaughter House", "Lumber"
or "Fresh Fish", you will be sent to another one of
the four to rescue someone who becomes one of your first two
"buddies". There are two more buddies available for
rescue at the remaining two of those four places. Each buddy
has two missions for you. After you complete a mission, the
other one will not show until you go to Pala, or drive a similar
distance away from Mikes Bar. (Only relevant if you want to
do all buddy missions possible before main missions.) You don't
have to be given a rescue mission to free them.
Captive locations in the second half of the game
found include the "Bowa Seko Brewing Company and Dogon
Sediko.
Dogon Sediko Rescue:
You go into the downstairs of a mud building. The buddy to be
rescued is upstairs, and the stairs are a leaning pole in one
of the two rooms with notches cut in it. Face the notches, push
E to grab them, then W to climb.
Prison Buddy:
Has been taken to another underground cell, is still alive,
and can be rescued. Go upstairs to the jailyard, and the entrance
to the cells where your buddy is now held is half way along
the corridor near the available guns that exposes you to the
courtyard. The only benefit appears to be "enhanced reputation".
Go down the steps and follow the blood on the floor. Kill guards,
rescue buddy.
If you go down to this cell just before the Jackal
meeting, when you come back up, you'll have a gun, but it will
not fire within the prison.
Buddies kill me:
If you have a SaveGame made after the Jackal meeting at the
Prison, then in any New Game you start, any buddy that you rescue,
or that rescues you, will then try to kill you. Either delete
or move any SaveGame from the SaveGame folder before you start
a New Game.
Hang Gliders:
In FarCry2 there are a number of hang gliders dotted about the
two maps. Some are for reaching diamonds and some are not.
Lebao-Sako

The green player icon on the map shows you where the hang glider
is. For Fun glider.

This one above is for retrieving a diamond on
top of a rock near the North Railyard.

For retrieving a diamond atop a rock near your safe house by
the river.
T
here's a diamond in the lake above Cattle Xing
that's on top of a car wreck just below the surface of the water.
You cant see it unless you are on top of the car wreck or on
the rock above which you can reach with the hang glider, but
don't actually have to to get the diamond.

Goka Falls has a glider nearer to the falls up
top by the assasination site. There are three tracks up to this
Goka Lodge house from below. One from the nearby telecommunications
tower, one next to the boat in the river, and one branching
off from the track between the river and road. The glider can
be used to reach a diamond by that branch track, but it can
also be reached by climbing. The glider can be used to escape
after the assasination mission, but the boat side track is best
for both getting there and escaping.

The gun is pointing at the track. Where it's slippery
walk on the edges.

The glider can be used to get this diamond if
you want.

On your way back from getting medicine, there is a glider below
the track before that guard post. It'll get you to that diamond
towards Mokuba.
Bowa-Seko

This one is needed to get a diamond on the rock back along
the road to the left. The glider is on a track past the safe
house.

After destroying the Dogon kilns, you can escape on this hang
glider, and get to your buddy quicker to help them complete
the mission.

A for fun glider.

I think it's a for fun glider because you cant reach it qickly
after blowing up the pipeline.
The sniper lookout above the M-S Pipeline near this glider
is perfect for assassinating the guy on the MS sniper tower
mission, and the fixed grenade launcher can be used to kill
all the M-S Pipeline guards without risk. The tricky part is
getting down into the gully below without killing yourself,
or getting far enough away to trigger a respawn of enemies.
Do that and the diamond amid the tyres in the shed is easy.

You just about do a u-turn with this one to get a diamond on
a rock on the other side of the river.

You might be able to use this to get to the diamond on a rock
below, but it's easier to put a boat next to the rock and just
jump onto it.

Weelegol, after the killing and tower demolition, there's a
hang glider that helps you escape and go help your buddy sooner.
