An Essay About Mass Fear

By The Nimbin BullDozer

It is a statistical fact that 1/3 of all adult Australians at one time or another of their life have taken the step of consciously choosing to defy the law, and tried smoking “pot”.

That is over 5 million people in rough terms, but probably more.

The Hunter Research Institute tells us by survey analysis, that 750 thousand (750 000) Australians currently smoke “pot” at least once a week!

That’s a lot of people that have also chosen to take their chances and risk the purportedly serious physical and mental health ramifications, to satisfy curiosity.

So serious is the purported problem, that every citizen is totally banned from even possessing it. Yet having smoked it, life seems to carry on for those millions, regardless…..Hmmmmm.

Basically, as everyone really knows the only thing drastically wrong with it is that it is “illegal”. If you get busted, you have to pretend remorse and suffer sham social shame, promising not to do it again, in order to lessen the negative impact on you and your families lives.

This scenario, to which stupendous numbers have been subjected over the decades, is not the legitimate function of law in a free society.

This is called INTIMIDATION and SUBJUGATION.

Whether politician or pauper, Magistrate or mugger (yes, the Bulldozer is aware of two Magistrates that smoke “pot”), all are subject to this outdated and ossified legal oppression.

Politicians that have smoked pot, when confronted by journalists with pointed questions about this, immediately find themselves in a quandary.

If they don’t admit it, someone might come out of the woodworks and start a very public bum- fight, thus endangering the public position. If the do admit it, then they still have to run a gauntlet. What to do, and often a split- second decision is required?

The softest option then is to admit, in as credible manner possible. And so it sounds quite that, Malcolm Turnball only smoked it as a foible of “use”, Julie Gillard “didn’t like”, or Nathan Reeas” only that many times” (holding up one hand, indicating a number of digits’, and hope like hell that journalist interests wanes).

Of course, there is a school of thought out there, that the smoking of Marijuana distorts one’s mental process, possibly leaving a life long residual affect.

That is, I believe, the reason why it was made illegal in the first place.

Does this therefore mean that the admissions to smoking marijuana by those who now occupy some of the most senior and responsible positions in hand, now possibly subject the nation to a residual drug affected decision -making process by those senior executive, to which we are all dependant for sound judgement?

Is this not a logical line of thought, if one were to consider the legal context, and its reasons for establishment?

Should, in fairness to the common man, ewe have all those in parliamentary positions (law makers) who have admitted to “smoking pot”(law breakers), removed from office?

If these instances are admitted in public, it might be that our parliament across the nation may be riddled with clandestine pot smokers, both dormant and active ( the iceberg effect).; maybe our forbears were right in banning marijuana to protest the nations mental health, in those years that ultimately lead to the “McCarthyism”
Era.

Plan “A”’

In the interested of nation security, I now propose;
That a solemn commission of enquiry be set up to root out those parliamentary pot- smokers that flout their own laws with impunity.

The best candidate that sprouts to mind at head of such and enquiry would be none other than the Federal Environment minister, the honourable Peter Garratt M.P O.A (ex rock band “Midnight oil” front man).

That way, the common man could be assured that the governing executive has his best interests at hear when passing laws of prohibition, to further a victory in “The War on Drugs”.

Plan “B”

Of course, there is an alternative and preferred suggestion:-

“Overhaul the drug laws”
“ Legalise bush pot (and hash)”
“Restore out Rights”
